Among the six fresh gadgets revealed, Ultimate Ears’ Everboom speaker is grabbing the eyeballs. Priced at $249.99, Everboom is a speaker with so much to offer to the UE lovers.
Firstly, it is small and light compared to the hit Epicboom. But as part of keeping the signature style of UE, Everboom is a bit bumpy too. It can be placed inside your cozy shady rooms to warm up your mood. It can also be kept outdoors too you want to have a blast and chill up your swag. This waterproof speaker ‘dangles’ a carabiner or a clip. It makes it easy for you to hold it or hang it on your bag. Just another way to buoy your confidence.
The Everboom speaker can be paired with other UE speakers as well. You can do this in party mode and feel the beat. The oversized volume buttons help you control the speaker with a lot more ease. There’s an outdoor mode with extra volume and power to give you uncompromising fun (this feature is available in Epicboom too). Above all of these, you are entitled to a fully customizable EQ.
The stereo output in the speaker provides good clarity and separation. As mentioned, Everboom is smaller and more portable than the Epicboom. The rough and tough look makes it durable too. Battery life is more than adequate at 20 hours of continuous playback.
When you keep the speaker on your left or right in a way that it directly faces you, you hear the magic! Because the Everboom is most clear then. It is ideal to keep the volume level below 20 percent for indoor listening. Going above 30 would make you feel nauseous due to the heavy sound. When you are out, you can crank up to some 70 percent. But that might make the speaker overly compressed. So, if you are looking for something better than the JBL Charge 5 or Bose SoundLink Flex, the Everboom will be disappointing.
Undoubtedly, it is better than the Sonos Move for sound quality. And as a bonus, the whole UE lineup has switched to USB-C. Besides, the Everboom IP67 boasts dust resistance too. You can worry less about rain or wind and listen to the music. The Everboom includes multipoint enabling you to pair two phones to the speaker simultaneously. The NFC support helps with quick pairing.
While the Everboom carefully diarizes each element in Conan Grey’s Heather, it can muffle a lot of songs in other genres. That said, the Epicboom ranks higher than Everboom. This is because Epicboom has larger drivers and more bass growl. The Everboom on the other hand has no line-in or speakerphone functionality. The UE’s app has a new megaphone feature which will allow you to speak into your phone and broadcast that to your Boom speakers. But that’s not of much use. Considering all these, the Everboom is a high-end speaker. It is a good-to-go product but has its limitations. Now, it’s your call to buy it or not.
