Design
The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion comes in four options – Cosmic Grey, Aurora White, Solar Gold and Neptune Blue which comes with a vegan leather back cover. Our review model is Neptune Blue. The phone looks immaculately designed from all angles. The phone has a polished metal frame and 3D glass inlay, it looks luxurious and feels premium in hand with the faux leather back.
Measuring 158.48 x 71.99 x 7.68 mm, a weight of 168gm and a 6.55-inch screen, this is a large but light and easy to use phone. On the front, is the 32MP selfie camera. At the bottom is the SIM tray which can run up to two SIM cards. The buttons are all placed on the right – volume up/down and power button.
At the back, the camera bump is placed in the upper-left corner and consists of a 50MP main, 13MP ultrawide, 2MP depth and dual LED flash. The fingerprint sensor is integrated with the power button and is fast to recognize and unlock.
At the bottom is the USB-C 3.1 port for charging and the speaker grille. Unfortunately, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack.
Display
The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion comes with a 6.55-inch 1080×2400 pixels pOLED screen with support for HDR10+ and has a 144Hz refresh rate. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
The display is fantastic with natural colors and good sharpness. Viewing angles are great and the animations are extremely smooth thanks to the high refresh rate which can be adjusted to either to 60Hz, 144Hz or auto.
Browsing and navigating on the Edge 30 Fusion is fluid and buttery smooth. The 10-bit pOLED panel is highly color accurate with DCI-P3 color coverage, outputting good contrast ratios and a brightness of 1100nits. While the display is HDR10+ compliant, apps like Netflix can’t stream in HDR on the device.
There is also an under-display fingerprint scanner built-in here and is fast to recognize and unlock.
Connectivity
The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion is a 5G phone and supports dual SIMs. In terms of connectivity, it supports WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and GPS. Phone calls are loud and clear and Wi-Fi & 5G speeds are excellent.
Performance
The Motorola Edge 30 5G features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888G+ chipset, Adreno 660 GPU, 8GB of RAM and 256GB built-in memory. The chipset is powerful and the performance is great with no visible delay or lags. It has plenty of power to run most games without issues.
Camera
The Motorola Edge 30 5G has a triple camera setup with a 50MP main, 13MP ultrawide that doubles as a macro and 2MP depth.
The 50MP main camera produce photos with good detail and sharpness during the day with quick focus. The secondary 13MP ultra-wide camera produces images with a good amount of detail and contrast but with some noise. The ultra-wide-angle lens can also be used for macro shots with good detail.
In low light conditions, the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion produces images with great details and acceptable sharpness.
The 32MP portrait and selfie camera images of Motorola Edge 30 5G are quite good and natural-looking. There is no overprocessing of skin tones.
Videos can be recorded with the 50 MP camera at a maximum of 8K at 30fps, 4K at 30fps or 1080p at 60fps. The video quality is decent and stable thanks to the gyro-EIS. There is also a slow-mo movie mode with 240 fps and a super slow-mo movie mode that goes up to 960 fps.
OS
The Motorola Edge 30 5G comes with an almost stock version of Android 12 without much bloatware. Motorola includes a number of gestures, adjustments and options such as attentive display, peek display which provides notifications on the lock screen with a single tap, activate the flashlight with a shake motion and a lot more.
Battery
The phone comes with a large 4,400mAh battery, which can last a full a day of use. As for charging, Motorola Edge 30 Fusion comes with a 68W fast power charger which can power the phone fully in under an hour.
Audio
The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion has a Dolby Atmos powered stereo speaker located at the bottom of the phone. The sound is loud, deep and without any distortion at high volumes. The microphones also offer very good audio quality during calls.
Motorola Edge 30 Fusion Review Verdict
The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion comes with all the bells and whistles, it has a fantastic screen, great hardware and software, a point and shoot camera and is lightweight to carry. The only downsides here are the lack of a telephoto camera and expandable storage.
