Design & Build & Ports
The Lenovo Tab P12 might not be the lightest at 615g, but it’s impressively slim, measuring just 6.9 mm in thickness. When you hold it, there’s an undeniable sense of quality and premium build. Its back showcases a unique dual-tone matte finish, and the entire body is crafted from an aluminum unibody, giving it a polished look and feel. Whether you prefer a vertical or portrait orientation, the tablet’s ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip.
In terms of connectivity, the P12 Tab keeps it simple yet effective with a single USB Type-C 2.0 port. It also offers a micro-SD slot for expandable storage, making it a versatile companion.
On the left side, you’ll find the power button, which conveniently doubles as a fingerprint reader, along with dual speakers and the microSD card slot. On the right side, another set of dual speakers accompanies a Type-C 2.0 port (in landscape mode). At the top, you’ll notice the volume control buttons and a microphone array, while the bottom houses the docking port.
The Lenovo Tab P12 goes the extra mile with optional accessories. You can opt for the Lenovo Tab P12’s keyboard for improved productivity. Additionally, the optional Lenovo Precision Pen Plus offers an enhanced user experience, featuring 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and tilt detection. It keeps you going with an impressive 100 hours of use on a single charge.
Display
The Lenovo Tab P12 boasts a 12.7-inch 2944 x 1840 LCD display, offering a 60Hz refresh rate and a pixel density of 273 pixels per inch. The display impresses with good visuals, brightness, and wide viewing angles, ensuring a fantastic visual experience, whether you’re indoors or outdoors.
With its 16:10 aspect ratio, this display shines for both multimedia content, like Netflix and YouTube, and productivity tasks.
OS
The Lenovo P12 operates on Android 13, delivering a lag-free and seamless experience. Apps run smoothly, and even modern games pose no challenges. However, it’s worth noting that most Android apps aren’t entirely optimized for tablet use, leading to some stretching to fit the display.
The tablet offers two distinct modes: a regular tablet mode and a productivity mode that activates automatically when you connect the optional keyboard accessory. This flexibility enhances versatility with the device.
Performance
Powering the Lenovo P12 is the Mediatek MT6877V Dimensity 7050 chipset, accompanied by the Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. It’s available in configurations with 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 1TB via a microSD card.
Although it may not match the raw power of the latest Samsung and Apple tablets, this chipset is more than capable of handling a wide range of tasks. Whether you’re into productivity, gaming, or entertainment, the Lenovo P12 delivers the performance you need.
Camera
The Lenovo Tab P12 features an 8-megapixel main camera with autofocus and an LED flash on the rear, along with an 8MP front camera for selfies. In well-lit conditions, both cameras deliver decent quality results. However, in low-light environments, there’s a noticeable drop in clarity.
For video enthusiasts, both the front and rear cameras can record at a maximum of 1080p at 30 frames per second, offering acceptable quality for your video needs.
Speakers & Battery
The Lenovo P12 doesn’t compromise on audio, offering quad JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos certification. Positioned on either side of the device, they provide impressive sound quality, although it can be somewhat dampened when holding the tablet in landscape mode. The audio remains clear and well-balanced even at maximum volume.
The P12 boasts a 10,200 mAh battery. In our tests, the tablet offered good battery life, lasting 10-12 hours of real-life usage, covering web browsing, gaming, and video playback.
Moreover, the Tab P12 Pro includes a 30-watt USB-C power adapter with fast-charging support. Recharging from 0% to 100% took approximately 2.5 hours in our tests.
Verdict
The Lenovo Tab P12 is a budget-friendly tablet designed to cater to your entertainment and productivity needs. It combines decent hardware with a sleek design, all at an affordable price point. It’s important to note that if you’re in pursuit of the most powerful tablet, this might not be the top choice. Additionally, there’s no SIM or 5G support here.
For a smoother experience, we’d recommend considering the 8GB RAM variant. And, if you need more storage, rest assured that there’s support for external storage via microSD, extending your capacity up to 1TB.
